A right of passage for parents indeed, attending that very first parent/teacher conference. We experienced this yesterday morning and found out that although they sit in very tiny chairs…that we in turn had to sit in, how weird is that? They are indeed learning a lot. Of all the traits to inherit from a parent, the ability to move stealth like through the house in the dead of night is not the one I wanted to pass on to my 2 year old. Last night I attended the Kindergarten open house and we heard the usual commentary of what they do during the day and how while they are playing, they are actually learning. We were told not to worry about our kids coming home and answering “nothing” to our “what did you do at school today?” It’s typical and they may say nothing or that they played, but they are learning.
