Brilliant move or obvious desperation?

29 August 2008 No Comment

Ahh, so McCain has announced his running mate for Vice President. How timely that he should do so on the day Obama is accepting his nomination. Was it a brilliant move for him, to choose a woman, a mother of 5, to run alongside him? Or does he see himself falling behind the momentum Obama is riding on and needed a big shocker to rein him in? The way I see it, it wasn’t too brilliant because I see through it,  it appears to be another political ploy, he thinks he’ll garner more women voters using her. But honestly I have to wonder about her. Who is she, I’ve never heard speak of her before this, not that it means anything. More power to her for being the Governor  of Alaska, but this mother of 5, one of which, the youngest, has Downs Syndrome, is hardly Presidential material. How would she find the time to be a mother to 5 children, and handle being Vice President. Is it fair to her kids? I mean I believe moms can and should work, but being the Vice President seems a little too much, even for a supermom. And lest we not forget, McCain will probably not survive 4 years and then what. Ok, so Obama doesn’t have much experience either, but he chose someone who did have experience. Were there not other women with more experience that McCain could have chosen?

I’m still not sure where we are headed, obviously I don’t have much of a choice, I will vote for Obama, but there is still something about him that rubs me the wrong way and I can’t quite but my finger on it, although all those speeches  over the past few days have certainly made me feel a bit better about it. Obviously I cannot side with a woman who is radically pro-life, pro-war, pro-guns, etc… I believe in choice and not going to war for made up ridiculous reason. I don’t think the government should tell people, women, what to do with their bodies. So actually, although I probably never would have considered voting for McCain, now, with this choice of VP, there is no chance I would vote for him.
