Looking for places to go this summer to keep the kids happy, but want to avoid a big expensive gas gussling trip? Trip Flix may be your answer and not only will you learn about all sorts of places in your own extended backyard, but it will keep the kids occupied in the car as well. Trip Flix is an interactive DVD chalk full of family friendly destinations, 25 in total and the DVD is organized by geographical region so you can just choose yours, or watch them all and is hosted by teenagers Alex and Emily, in a comedic and informative style.
TripFlix came about when parents, Dave and Ilana bittner were travelling with their toddler on a weekend getaway and they received a pamphlet called The Bay Game from a toll booth operator on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It featured trivia to keep the kids entertained in the car and this gave them the idea for this interactive, engaging DVD, TripFlix was born. 25 destinations are featured in a fun and lively way by the teen hosts and along the way trivia is intermingled to make this an educational and fun DVD.
I watched the NorthEast region first and saw a few places I’d never heard of that are within a few hours drive, perfect weekend getaways and even a few day trips. My five year old was interested, my two year old, not so much, lol. A little too young maybe. Big Boy’s top choices include the Teddy Bear Factory in Vermont and the largest wooden elephant in NJ.
With the rising cost of everything, vacations do seem to be the first to get crossed off the todo list, so finding places close to home and easy on the wallet are crucial this summer and TripFlix can help and even keep the kids entertained on the way there!
