Lisa’s Cooking for Picky Eaters
Do you have picky eaters in your home, you know, of the tiny cranky variety? I have two, one of whom has only JUST last week started eating food that did not come out of a jar of baby food and he’s 2 1/2. Of course, the only food he will eat for dinner is pasta right now, so I am trying to find way to incorporate meat into it in a way the finicky little man will accept. Enter www.lisacooking.com a cooking site I just discovered full of great recipes and tips for cooking with kids and busy moms in mind. I found several pasta dishes to try out on my picky eater children…one in particular which I already tried and was a big hit was the Hamburger Hot Dish, it’s easy, sloppy looking which is always a plus for kids, it’s pasta…with ground beef and cheese. Hello, why didn’t I think of this? Oh right, because I am just not good at thinking about what to throw together in a dish, so thus my need to find someone to tell me.
The recipes on this site are short and sweet and use pretty common ingredients, and best of all, most are kid friendly recipes perfect for a busy mom who does not have time to be mixing her own Herbs de Provence. Hum, must be because Lisa is a busy mom of 2 kids herself and knows that as much as we all LOVE the Food Network and Emril’s oh so beautiful dishes, we simply do not have time or the desire to cook these dishes only to have our kids throw a table tantrum and refuse to eat it. Thus ruining the mood at the family dinner table for everyone.
Lisa actually cooks the recipes and takes photos of the finished dishes, which are even dated. Actually seeing a photo of the finished product really helps sell the recipe. I like this a lot, since I won’t even look at a cookbook if it doesn’t have photos of the final dish, I told you I needed guideance, including a photograph to tell me what the dish should look like so I know when I have completely flubbed it up, which happens a lot. So go on over and take a look at lisacooking.com and find some easy kid friendly recipes to try out yourself and be sure to come let me know if you have success as I need all the suggestions I can get!
