Beckie Wallace Digital Designing WAHM
As my digital design career expands, I am meeting more and more fabulous work at home moms, this line of work is particularily dominated by moms who are working their business from home. I want to feature some of them as upcoming WAHMspirations!
First up is Beckie Wallace of Beckie Wallace Designs. Beckie is a fellow designer at Stone Accents Studios where I have a shoppe. I first saw Beckie’s work when she first started at another site and always loved her style. I was pretty inspired by her actually, I saw her starting out while I had just made the decision to move into that direction and was taking my first steps at setting myself up to start designing digital scrapbooking products, so I was watching and learning! The funny things is now, reading her answers…we sound pretty similar, my day is about the same as hers, except I have boys!
Let’s meet Beckie…
1. Tell us a little about your business and how you started it, you’re a Digital Designer, did it start as a hobby as with most designers?
I began digiscrapping in April of 2007 and found that it was a terrific hobby for a stay at home mom in need of an artisitc outlet! Digital scrapbooking provided me an easy way to document all of the events in my children’s early lives in a creative, easy and fun way. This turned into a passion of mine that eventually took the next step to design. The rest is history!
2. Where can we find your products, link us up!
I sell at Stone Accents Studios, Digital Candy and offer freebies on My Blog.
3. Marketing and getting your name out there is always a challenge in any business, what methods have worked best for you so far?
I have a creative team which consists of 8 hard working digital scrappers and 4 guest scrappers that create layouts with my products and market them throughout the digital community. This has proven to be the most beneficial marketing technique in my case. I also market via various yahoo groups, on my blog and in major digital scrapbooking communities.
4. With your growing design business and a growing family (congrats on baby #3 on the way!), how do you balance your time between working and the house and kids?
This has been the biggest challenge of all! I found it difficult in the very beginning to balance my time and came close to leaving the world of design all together as a result. However with time came a balance and I have worked out what I consider a comfortable schedule. It’s tough at times for sure, but well worth it for many reasons.
5. What’s a Day in the Life of Beckie like?
Chaos! Just kidding I spend the morning getting my girls ready for the day and filtering through the hundreds of emails in my inbox! When naptime comes I get my “design on” and work like a madwoman to get as much done as possible! Afternoons are normally a mix of design and play with the kids and my computer is normally turned off when my husband gets home at 5:30. My evenings with the entire family are so precious to me and rewarding.
6. Where do your find the inspiration for your designs?
In just about everything! My kids clothing, paintings, nature, suggestions from my creative team and other digital scrappers, current events, you name it!
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions Beckie! Be sure to visit Beckie’s stores, SAS and Digital Candy, and check out the challenges she hosts in the forums at those stores as well.

Great blog post! It was an absolute thrill reading this interview with Beckie. Her product concept is solid, and she sure knows how to do business! And on top of it all to raise the children and live a happy life, Beckie really is a super woman!
