Friend of the Week
My Big Boy is the “Friend of the Week” at school this week. He turns 5 on Friday!!!! WOW. 5. Kinda of crazy when I think about it. 5 years ago right now I was very uncomfortable and went to my final OB visit and was told to stop working and relax at home, baby would be coming any time, I was due tomorrow. I went back to work, cleared off my desk, said my goodbyes and went home. Big Boy came 2 days later, on Friday. 5 years seems impossible, but then again, it’s also kinda flown by. Strange. So for “Friend of the Week” we made a poster of pictures of his life, he colored in his name. At school they traced him and will color him in today. We bring snack everyday, he the line leader all week, and today I have to go and read a book to the class, toting along Baby and the other little baby I watch. This should be very interesting…don’t ya think. Guess I will know what it’s like to have 3 little kids…although that will never happen. It’s a nice way to make the kids feel special for an entire week in their lives, help build their self-esteem, etc…and he needs it, he’s so shy around other kids, not so much adults, but kids. He seems pretty happy to be the Friend of the Week, but of course, he knows all these kids pretty well, he’s been with them for 2 years.
My big guy is getting older… the attitude is here and strong, sometimes I wonder if he’s this bad now, what’s he gonna be like when he’s 13! Let’s try not to think about that and just deal with Kindergarten and the school bus wonders that are coming in the fall, which seems to be coming faster and faster…it’s already almost May here people!
