Beyond the nursing bra…

I recently found myself cleaning out my drawers and putting together a box of maternity wear to give to goodwill. While most of the pieces were relatively stylish and functional, there was one piece that begged to be taken out of its misery… my nursing bra(s). What is it about these monstrocity-like pieces that scream torture rather than tot? Could it be the exposed seams, multitude of difficult to fasten clips, or maybe it’s the oh so fashion colors that they come in. Can somebody create a nursing bra from a color other than beige?!

The more I examined my old bras, the more I realized that I barely wore them. All of these flaps and fasteners usually left me feeling so uncomfortable that I usually resorted to wearing a tank top and just covering it up with a sweater. Oh sure it was a fine look when I was by myself with baby, but when others were around… it was a bit of a bouncy, leaky, ummm too much information kinda look. All of this dissatisfaction got me to thinking that someone out there must address this. And you know what? They did!

I happened upon a website called www.glamourmom.com that actually merged the nursing bra and tank top into one. Naturally it was a mom who invented it! Thank you!Actually, she built a whole clothing line of basics around the concept and the pieces are actually fashionable, practical and totally wearable. My only regret is not having discovered them sooner, however a few lucky expectant girlfriends will be gifted with these much-needed items!
