A full school bag every week!

14 February 2008 No Comment

Big Boy is only in pre-k and comes home from school everyday that he goes…3 days a week…with a folder full of paperwork. Work he’s done, art projects, crafts, newsletters from the teacher, school, principal, fundraiser announcements, book club flyers…you name it, it’s in there. I am going to start calling his school bag, Prego, the spaghetti sauce Prego, you know the slogan, “you name it, it’s in there.” lol Ok maybe that was not really funny, but seriously, it’s outta control! I never know if I need to keep these thing and if I don’t put the work up on the fridge, he wonders where it is…I cannot keep every little thing he makes though.!!! What’s a mom to do??? A great suggestion I heard on Wonder Years Radio was to get the kids involved. So now Big Boy’s job is to take out the stuff from his bag that he made and he puts in on the fridge. And if there is no room, because it’s already full, he decides what can go in the garbage or asks if we can keep it in his cabinet he has in the kitchen. He’s actually pretty good at throwing things away and only keeps the real special ones. As for the rest of the paperwork. I deal with it right away and throw it away and have a place for the things that need to be kept on the counter.

Wonder Years Radio is a podcast in the Moms Talk Radio family all about the Wonder Years…elementary school. Since Big Boy is gearing up for Kindergarten in September, listening now is giving me a head start on what we’ll be getting into in the next few years.
