Santa Baby, Thanks!
The Christmas duldrums have arrived. All the anticipation, all that effort to get everything ready for one day and then…BLAH. It’s over. It’s a lot of work for one day isn’t it? Craziness! I never liked the day after Christmas, it’s sad to know that there are 364 days till we do it all again, but this year, I kinda did like the day after a little bit. The house emptied of relatives and quiet (well, as quiet as it can be with over stimulated 4 and 2 year olds in the house) prevailed. I got out of the house for a trip to the store alone…and it wasn’t even crowded, miracle of all miracles. I spent a fortune on plastic storage bins to house the mountains of toys the boys received. I swear, the older they get the more pieces are involved!!!
The boys had a great Christmas morning, Big Boy of course totally gets it now. He sat on Santa’s lap for the first time, and told him, with absolute certainty that he wanted a rocket ship, the whole room heard him. This was Sunday afternoon. So Monday morning, Daddy decided he had to go get him a rocket ship, this was not on his original list! Daddy went out, Mister Non-Shopper himself, to TRU on Christmas Eve morning to find a rocket ship for Big Boy so he would believe in Santa. Big Boy has played with that rocket ship for all of 2 minutes since he got it. lol Oh well. At least he believes. Baby had the best reaction, even though he’s only 2, afraid of Santa and doesn’t quite get it yet. He came down with Daddy and had a wide eyed look on his face, he saw Elmo in a bag and pointed at it and said Elmo…Daddy put him down and he looked a little longer then started jumping up and down and running around in circles. Big Boy on the other had came down on his own with all his stuffed animals in tow…he said Merry Christmas to us, looked around, then through his animals in a corner. We asked him if he thought Santa came and he said, Ya, well and made a funny face and then ran to see if Santa ate the cookies and drank the milk. He didn’t jump for joy or anything, he was very serious about the whole thing. Then they went about the business of opening their gifts and we got to enjoy the struggle of releasing those toys from their tortured enclosures.
I made out pretty well, I got a great gift from my parents, the membership to a moms’s business mentoring group I wanted. Hubby got me a LCD flat screen widescreen montior which is gorgeous, much better than the monstrosity that took up the entire desk before. Got a few books I wanted too and a few other things. Very nice.
Now, Big Boy is home for a week, the house is overflowing with stuff and nobody, including me, feels like doing anything. Lovely. I am really looking forward to taking everything down and getting back to normal now. I’m ready, to get ready, for 2008.

I dread having to take down the tree and put the christmas decorations away. It takes effort and right now. I don’t have the strength or the desire.
