Make time for mom
While it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that moms are time management gurus, we seldom find a spare moment to pencil in some time for ourselves. On a recent weekday afternoon, I decided to change all of that. I called up my neighbor, a fellow mom, and told her that we were going to have the kids babysat while we headed out to our nearest department store for a much needed and well-deserved Mommy makeover.
We started at the MAC cosmetics counter and made it clear to the on staff make-up artist that we wanted to learn simple, natural tips that target a mom’s biggest beauty and confidence issues: you know the ones I’m referring to here, girls: puffy eyes, dark circles, uneven skintone and lacklustre skin. Not only did we learn some neat tricks, but we actually even turned a few heads as we strolled through the mall shortly thereafter. While I agree there’s no reason to put on full hair and make-up everytime you head out, it is nice to know that you can feel beautiful again in little or no time, in just a few easy steps.
While I don’t have time to always pull myself together in such a fashion, I have found 4 great items that actually make a world of difference and take less than 5 minutes to use: My shade stick, eyelash curler, some mascara and a peachy colored lip gloss. Sounds like alot but it’s actually so little and the look is beyond natural. It’s healthy. The shade stick alone is enough to perk up even the puffiest of peepers. And the gloss keeps my pale lips looking healthy and full.
So the next time your feeling a little frumpy, exhausted and just plain blah, consider calling up your best gal pal for a little makeover magic. The sessions are usually free and if your clear about your needs and expectations up front, the results are usually nothing short of fabulous.
