Get Fall Fabulous!
While it might be time to say goodbye to our flip flops and favourite shorts, that doesn’t give us permission to fall into the sweatshirt trap and board the next train to “bulky-land” when the cool fall weather comes a calling… Instead, why not make a fresh start and explore some of fall’s best looks, from head to toe! We promise, all of these great styles are 100% mom-friendly! So let’s begin…
Make the most of the maxi!
While summer may have brought us the revival of the most body forgiving silhouette ever - the maxi, that doesn’t mean we have to let it become a distant summer memory. These flirty dresses can easily be carried into early fall with just a few clever additions and some key accessories.

Dress it up
Layer a matching lightweight cropped cardigan over it (leave it open or knotted) and pair with ballerinas or round-toe pumps. Perfect for PTA meetings or office polish.
Dress it down
Throw on a chunkier belted cardigan over the dress and pair with a great pair of slouch boots. Suede, worn leather and rounded toe versions look best.

Try the trapeze!
Once you’ve maxxed out on the maxi, you can begin shopping for its clever counterpart: the trapeze silhouette. It’s stylish, yet concealing and comes in everything from flirty tops and tunics, to casual and elegant dresses alike.

Vested interests
Ahhh…the vest! As Moms we’re thrilled this little quick-change artist is back in the fashion cycle for fall. Vests are great for detracting attention away from both small bustlines (a lovely leftover from days spent nursing) and larger bustlines (for some a blessing and others, a curse). It even shifts the focus away from post-natal waistlines too. Is there anything this little wonder can’t do?

Back with the ballerinas!

As we all breathe a sigh of relief that flats are still hot for fall, the ballerina benefits from the perfect update: details, details, and more details. Look for quilting, gathers, buckles, bold prints and bows. The best part? Their versatile appeal: Wear them with pants, jeans, skirts or dresses.

Puddle jumper perfect!

Yup, as moms we spend a lot of time in parks, taking strolls, splashing in puddles or just plain sloshing around in the mud and dirt. With such unpredictable terrain to navigate, it only makes sense that you protect your feet and clothes from the elements with a great pair of rubber boots or wellies. Or check out the Mommy & Me sets available from DLL rainwear. With so many cute styles to choose from this season, you might actually find yourself wishing for rain!

Comfortably Chic
When the temperature dips, it’s only natural to reach to the back of your closet and pull out your old boots, but resist the temptation to go chunky or frumpy and instead explore some of the beautiful and surprisingly comfortable options available for fall. Frye boots and slouch boots are both great options. If you keep things casual, add the Frye to your collection. It’s one of those timeless hits that looks great with jeans.

If you prefer to straddle the line between casual and a little more dressed, then a slouch boot with a mid-stacked heel is your best bet. Channel your inner Sienna Miller and pair with a great pair of jeans or a casual skirt for a touch of bohemian glamour.

Be the “shadiest” Mom on the block
Saying bye bye to summer doesn’t mean losing all sunsmarts! Instead, invest in a really great pair of shades to shield your eyes in the months ahead. The sun can be deceivingly strong even on overcast or cooler days. Don’t be fooled! Styles of note include the classic aviator, as well as more glass, less frame versions.

And of course, still hip from summer; the oversized beach-goddess styles remain a hot commodity. A sure hit with moms since they do a great job of hiding tired eyes from one too many sleep-deprived nights. Now that’s appealing concealing!
