Moms and Daughters celebrate Girlfriend’s Day
August 1 is Girlfriend’s Day! What better than for Moms to spend the day with their daughters enforcing those bonds that will last a lifetime. Need some ideas on how to spend some time together, espcially for moms for tween girls, who are moving further and further away from Mom, towards independance. Here are a few…
Ten things I like about you – There is no better way to connect with your tween than to put aside daily chores and take some time to pamper each other. Set up a home spa,, smooth on a face mask, and paint each others nails - for every finger, tell each other one thing you love about them!
Take A Healthy Hike – There’s never a better time than the tweenage years to instill healthy habits in your daughter’s life. On your hike, take time enjoy the fresh air and talk about other ways she can stay healthy too!
Soak Up Each Other’s Company – Nothing’s better than a day at the beach; but this time, leave the Harry Potter books at home. As you slather on the sunscreen and lounge in the sand, find out some of the issues your daughter has been struggling with- whether it be friends, boys or body issues.
One great resource for tips on how to broach some difficult topics, such as body image and personal hygiene, is the Tween Scene brochure from Teen Spirit.
Have a great Girlfriend’s Day!
