Summer Reading for Moms
During the summer I read a lot. Well, a lot more than during the winter anyways. I love to read, but it’s so hard to find the time now that I am a mom. But during the summer, being forced to be outside so much more, supervising the boys, I do get to indulge a little more in this favorite passtime.
So, recently I’ve read a few good books and wanted to share them with you. For the most part, I enjoy chick lit or the spin off of that mom lit, you know, those chicks are getting married and getting pregnant now…lol I’m a big fan of Jennifer Weiner, lovec loved loved Goodnight Nobody, In Her Shoes, and Little Earthquakes. Also love Sophie Kinsella. The Undomestic Goddess and Can You Keep a Secret were fabulous! I am only just starting the Shopaholic series now…a little behind I know!
This month, on Mom’s Bookshelf, two books are featured that I reviewed.
An Angel’s Kiss by Buffy Krajewski. This is a more serious book, but amazing. The true story of a mom, telling us exactly what she went through dealing with finding out her child was sick, before he was born and how against all odds, because of her love, he survived although he shouldn’t have. And of course, what dealing with the day to day obstacles of caring for this child brought to her life. Please read the full review and get the book, it’s awesome!
Mommy Millionaire: How I Turned my Kitchen Table Idea into A Million Dollars and How You Can Too by Kim Lavine. This was great, a true step by step guide to coming up with a product and bringing it to the masses. It’s not easy, but Kim Lavine did it and she details the daily struggles of how she did it. This is a great business guide, even though it’s not really meant to be. Even if you are not looking to mass market a product, this book is a great read! Full review here.
Two very different situations, but the same result, both these moms succeeded in their goals through sheer determination. Great stories!
