Puppy goes for grocery!

19 April 2007 No Comment

No, this is not the title of a new children’s book, but rather, the reality which is my life!  That’s right, lately my two year old daughter has taken on the persona of “Puppy.” A small spotted Dalmatian, to be more precise.

You see, she had received a furry puppy face mask last Halloween but showed little interest in it at the time.  However one day last week, she found it as she rummaged through her toybox.  “Wow, look at dis!” she shouted with delight and then slipped the mask on over her head.  She then ran over to us shouting “Look Mama, my a puppy!”  She then proceeded to sniff and lick me.  “Ruff! Ruff! Mama, talk to your little puppy.”

Although undeniably cute, the puppy hasn’t exactly limited itself to household interactions.  No, no…Puppy now wants to go out in public.  Yup, last weekend Puppy decided to go for grocery!  Puppy rode in the basket, fuzzy mask intact, sniffing items and licking the produce as my husband placed it inside the basket. Naturally, onlookers smiled and commented on her accessory of choice.  This only fueled Puppy’s ego and she began to bark at strangers seeking out even further attention.

Yes, this is one of those adorable little stories that I’m sure will make our daughter’s cheeks turn red when we tell it to her in the years to come…   Now if only I could get this new puppy to sit and stay still every once in awhile! ; )
