The Morning After…

31 January 2007 One Comment

I was all set this morning to share with you the race to hit all major milestones that my little man is on, but alas, Parenting Lane is not a paved road, it’s bumpy and seems to always send you at full speed ahead in the wrong direction. So instead let us review last night, shall we. Went to bed early, and thank goodness I did.

9pm go to bed.

9:20 turn the tv off, nothing on

9:57 baby starts screaming for no apparent reason, had to pick him up to calm him, I never pick him up from his crib. He goes back to sleep a few minutes later.

Fall asleep somewhere in here

10:45 Baby awakes talking, babbling, having a grand ole time in his crib. Wait a few minutes then go shove a paci in his mouth to keep him quiet

Fall asleep

11:59 “Mommy, I can’t see!”….Mommy, I can’t see!” Crying begins….Jump up run to big boy’s room, his nightlight went off. Search for a working nightlight, find a bulb, replace. All is well in big boy room.

12:10am Big Boy starts coughing…for 10 minutes…already gave him cough medicine, nothing I can do now.

Fall asleep

1:15 Baby babbling, don’t get up, he stops after a few minutes. But it woke me.

Fall asleep

2:30 Baby babbling..go shut him up

fall asleep

5:32am Hubby leaves for work and I hear the garage door going up and down and that was it, I could not get back  to sleep after that.

Amazingly enough, it is now 7:15am and the kids are both still asleep, they are both normally up and going strong by now. I wonder why they are so tired???? Big Boy normally sleeps through the night, has since he was 4 months old. Baby has only JUST recently begun sleeping through the night, but had been doing well, he 14’s months old. I though this meant I could start having normal night’s sleep again. It’s been since I got pregnant with baby I have not had a normal full night’s sleep. When, when does this nonsense end? Late night parties in the crib? Now that baby normally does sleep most of the night, big boy is waking up more. Hello, he never woke up, what is up with that???

Can somebody please pave the darn road already so we know where to go, how to get there and there are no more detours!

What a breath of fresh air to know that I am not alone down this lonely road of sleeplessness!
My three year old has developped a sudden fear of strangers and being taken away which turns her into a con artist in order to get me to stay with her. An 8:00 bedtime seems to turn into 9 or 9:30!
My two year old has developed a strong bond with daddy and when it is mommy’s turn to put him to bed..let’s just thank super nanny for her tips. The crying, oh the crying! Meanwhile I am sporting a nice belly ready to burst in 5 weeks. Baby numero 3. The bathroom is my nighttime pal. Another round of sleeplessness is upon me!

So thanks, now I know I am not the only one who feels like they sleep about 15 minutes a night!!
